Filipinos can look forward to a fun-filled shopping experience that also enables them to support meaningful causes this holiday season
This Christmas season, consumers in the Philippines can look forward to celebrating the spirit of giving by supporting meaningful causes through the Lazada platform, and sharing happiness with loved ones with attractive deals and an exciting line up of programs during Lazada’s 12.12 Grand Christmas Sale, happening from December 12-14.
“Christmas is a very important season for many of us in the Philippines. In a year that has been filled with uncertainty, we want Lazada’s 12.12 Grand Christmas Sale to not just be a platform for customers to share happiness with loved ones through a festive and fun-filled shopping experience, but also do our part to serve the needs of the country, andsupport our sellers to build a resilient and sustainable business.” says Ray Alimurung, Lazada Philippines’ Chief Executive Officer.
Encouraging the spirit of giving through LazadaForGood
To share more happiness with the Filipino community this Christmas, Lazada is working with Unilever, RFM, Dole, Century Pacific Food, and Rise Against Hunger, in a first-of-its-kind partnership to bring Noche Buena to families in need. With just PHP 300, Lazada shoppers can sponsor a Noche Buena kit to a family in need this Christmas through the #BrandAid: Noche Buena Para Sa Lahat initiative.
“, On top of attractive deals and an exciting line up Shoppertainment programs this holiday season, we want to encourage the spirit of giving back to our community. By providing customers a safe and convenient platform to support meaningful causes close to their hearts, we hope to continue to serve the Filipino community and empower our customers to share happiness with not only loved ones, but those who need it the most,” said Neil Trinidad, Lazada Philippines’ Chief Marketing Officer.
This initiative follows the many other LazadaForGood initiatives that Lazada has rolled out across the year, to support various causes and communities in need. Through LazadaForGood, Lazada’s digital giving platform, Filipinos have been enabled to support relief efforts for communities affected by the Taal Volcano eruption and the COVID-19 pandemic, by making safe and secure digital donations to trusted NGO partners. More recently, Lazada also partnered with NGOS such as Caritas Manila, Kaya Natin, Project Pearls, UNICEF, and World Vision, to raise funds for communities affected by Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses. To date, LazadaForGood has raised over Php 30 million for 25 of Lazada’s partner NGOs.
Celebrating the resilience of sellers and the Filipino community
“This 12.12, we also want to celebrate the resilience of our sellers and the Filipino community. Despite the challenges faced by various industries this year, many sellers and MSMEs, brands, and individuals in our community have demonstrated an unwavering spirit to innovate and adapt to evolving situations. Lazada’s priorities have not changed. Our resolve and commitment to support brands and sellers with more resources to build a sustainable business and better serve our consumers has only gotten stronger.” said Carlos Barrera, Lazada Philippines’ Chief Operating Officer.
Lazada recently held its second Lazada Awards event, which recognized 32 inspiring sellers, brands, and partners that not only demonstrated exemplary performance this year, but have also helped to support the Filipino economy and community through their online business. These included initiatives spearheaded by businesses such as Colourette, who committed a portion of their sales to help communities affected by the recent typhoons in the Philippines. Seller partners Luxxe Angels and Peculiar Eyewear were also recognized for their various efforts to integrate community building into their business models.
To adapt to shifts in consumer demands brought on by the pandemic, Lazada launched Lazada Fresh and Lazada Med earlier this year, to provide consumers convenient online access to a wide assortment of fresh and frozen food products, and health and wellness products. To date, Lazada has onboarded 400 fresh food sellers – some of whose offline businesses had faced disruptions due to the lockdowns – and offers consumers convenient access to thousands of health products on the platform.
As part of its commitment to support the local businesses to digitize and diversify revenue streams, Lazada also recently onboarded small businesses such as food sellers of Mercato Centrale, in time to welcome them to participate in the upcoming 12.12 Grand Christmas Sale.
