Peculiar Eyewear upcycled their production waste into eco-bricks

Peculiar Eyewear vouch to be part of the green initiative by repurposing their production waste into eco-bricks to build their new warehouse in North Caloocan.

As part of Peculiar’s vision, Founder and CEO explained that they aim to be a socially aware company. He stated that one of their focus is to reuse and recycle 80 percent of their production waste in 10 years. “For our new warehouse, we use our raw and waste materials from the lenses and mix them with concrete,” Saliendra added.

“Our company’s mission statement is to see the world differently,” the founder said. He wants to create a social entrepreneurship company that provides a positive impact on the environment and the community. He mentioned that Peculiar Eyewear allocated a fund to address selected social issues.

Peculiar Eyewear also plans to use solar power electricity for their first eco-brick facility. Saliendra emphasized that aside from saving electricity, this move will lessen their company’s carbon emissions in support of greater environmental change. He firmly believes that its time for our generation to act on climate change.

The eco-brick project is not the first step that Peculiar Eyewear took in its climate change action plan journey. Saliendra shared that they have a tree-planting program last 2018 and they intend to continue this initiative once the pandemic restrictions are lifted.

Currently, Peculiar Eyewear has an active project in support of the government’s response to COVID-19. They launched a program that in every pair of eyewear sold, one piece of face shield will be distributed to someone in need. To date, the company donated nine million worth of face shields to local government units.
